Anybody who works with clients on their goals and challenges knows that there can be a limit to the progress and sustainable change we can make using “classic” coaching approaches that only address our conscious desires and motivations. This might include:
There are regularly situations where, despite our best efforts and their best intentions, clients simply “resist” change and:
These challenges are often very frustrating and disheartening to both clients and coaches.
Parts Work gives us the understanding, skills, tools and presence to successfully support our clients in exactly the places that they are stuck.
It does this by bringing awareness to these inner conflicts and polarisations, and rather than emphasising only the positive parts that are congruent with a client’s mission, it also makes space for the parts that are in resistance, fear or struggle around goals, success or expansion.
Parts work is unique in that it offers an effective toolkit to compassionately, effectively and directly work with the Parts that are holding us back, because they are:
And by acknowledging them, connecting with them and then skillfully working directly with them (rather than just trying to change the beliefs and emotions they are carrying) we can enable deep transformation and alignment in our clients. This results in a much deeper self-awareness and self-acceptance as well as an alignment between our Self and Parts.
It teaches you simple tools, exercises and questions you can use in your regular sessions to help clients transform their own Parts, using the following steps:
In addition to the explicit tools of working with Parts, we will have 2 extra sessions that focus on the inner work and skills coaches need to sustainably facilitate people in their personal process:
Parts Work is like the secret ‘how-to’ for your sessions.
It helps us the concrete tools and perspectives, to guide clients towards helpful states and experiences:
My approach emphasises simplicity, clarity and empowerment.
Starting to work with Parts can sometimes feel a bit “Woo-Woo” and weird, especially when you are just getting started.
My goal is to make this step as simple and playful as possible.
For that I use lots of drawings in my materials to help you get the core dynamics of the techniques as easily as possible, and for you to apply them in your unique way in sessions.
Additionally, I make space to answer all the questions that arise in the practice and client-sessions during the course, as I think it is one of the most important sources of learning for everyone in the group, whether it is your question we are exploring or someone else’s!
My name is Lucas Forstmeyer. I am trained in IFS, different meditation practices and body-based therapy, and I lead workshops & sessions across Europe.
My background includes Studying Psychology, training with a Sufi-Teacher and co-teaching the Holistic-Bodywork.org trainings that teaches bodyworkers how to work with Developmental Trauma (amongst many other things!)
I am truly excited about this training, because I see the positive impact this IFS-inspired form of Parts Work has on how coaches work – and thus their clients’ lives.
Speaking from personal experience, I can see how these tools have helped me to:
It has changed my practice and I have seen it change the practice of many people who have participated in my courses.
My biggest hope is that more humans can benefit from these wonderful tools and walk this earth with more presence, compassion and personal power.
You will need to invest time and energy for this course. You cannot expect to learn these tools and reap the benefits without practicing, studying and contemplating what we are doing in this course.
So please, only get in touch with me if you know you can invest 2-5 hours each week for study and practice (not per day as some people seem to read…)
I am taking a necessary break until August 9th.
I will try to not look at my email before then (too much…).
I will get back to you latest around August 9th – 12th.
